Warm, creamy oats with a spoon of psyllium husk to keep you full for the long feeding stretches, nut butter for staying power, and fruit on top. Oats are a classic milk-supply favourite โ€” and it's ready in about five minutes, one hand free for baby.

Make it

  1. Warm the oats with the milk for 2โ€“3 minutes until creamy.
  2. Stir through the psyllium husk and nut butter.
  3. Top with banana, berries and a sprinkle of seeds.
  4. Psyllium thickens fast, so add a splash more milk if needed.

โฑ 10 min Lunch Iron + vitamin C

Iron-boost rainbow salad

Pregnancy and postpartum both raise your iron needs, and this bowl is built to help you absorb it โ€” plant iron from chickpeas and greens, paired with vitamin-C-rich orange and tomato so your body actually takes it up. Bright, crunchy, and ready in the time it takes to boil the kettle.

You'll need

  • 60 g baby spinach
  • 240 g cooked chickpeas
  • 1 orange (about 150 g), in segments
  • 100 g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 100 g red cabbage, shredded
  • ยฝ avocado (about 75 g), sliced
  • 20 g pumpkin seeds
  • 15 ml olive oil + juice of ยฝ lemon

Make it

  1. Pile the spinach and shredded cabbage into your biggest bowl.
  2. Scatter over the chickpeas, tomatoes, orange segments and avocado.
  3. Whisk the olive oil with the lemon juice and a pinch of salt; pour over.
  4. Finish with pumpkin seeds for crunch. Toss gently and dig in.
Mama tip: The squeeze of lemon isn't just for flavour โ€” its vitamin C can significantly boost how much plant iron you absorb.
โฑ 30 min + batch Dinner Freezer-friendly

Freezer-friendly recovery stew

The meal to make before baby arrives (or when someone asks "what can I bring?"). One pot, deeply nourishing, and it freezes beautifully in single portions for those first tender weeks. Lentils and greens for iron, warming spices, and hands-off simmering while you rest.

  • 160 g carrots + 300 g sweet potato, diced

  • 400 g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 L vegetable stock
  • 1 tsp ground cumin + 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 100 g kale or spinach

Make it

  1. Soften the onion and garlic in the oil for a few minutes in a big pot.
  2. Add carrot, sweet potato and spices; stir for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Tip in the lentils, tomatoes and stock. Simmer 25 minutes until tender.
